“Bota NO”, saca of October 2018
D.O.P. Montilla – Moriles
19% alc. – 375ml
Pérez Barquero
Montilla
Production: 1,300 bot.
A very unique palo cortado, from the finest and most precise producer in the Montilla District. The excellence in the vineyard (both because of the singular terroir of the Altos de Moriles, and because of the quality of the viticulture) is key for preventing in this case the excess of richness that the grape pedro ximénez usually shows.
The elegance of La Bota de Palo Cortado 86 “Bota NO” features it in our book as an uncontested palo cortado: an oxidative wine that boasts a verticality, a lightness, a delicacy that does not fit with a typical Oloroso from Montilla.
It is not an extremely old wine (about 30 y.o.), in contrast with other wines in half bottles that EQUIPO NAVAZOS has been launching (such as recently the very old releases No. 73 and 78, for instance). We want to remark it, since the expectative in this case should not be one of those highly concentrated and venerable wines. The exceptionality of this wine comes from finesse, together with uniqueness and scarcity, since we have selected just one single cask out of the small solera that contains this wine.
